Files And Settings Transfer Wizard

I used F.A.S.T. Wiz to backup my files to a backup drive thru USB. I got
about 8 DAT files over 2GB each. I reinstalled same XP SP2 on the same
Laptop with 60GB HD and 1GB RAM. When I tried to restore using FAST Wiz, it
took half hour, then gave me error stating that I should check my disk space.

I installed the new Win Vista from DVD on the same laptop. The FAST Wiz is
quite different; it lets me restore each DAT file individually. It did state
that, settings will not be restored to Vista, but I dont care about the
settings anymore, I just need the files! As I tried to restore all 8 DAT
files, took 15 min. each, it stated that there are no files to be restored.

I appreciate any help to open the files, automatically or manually.

You might want to try the Fastconv Extraction Tool. Go to this page and scroll down a bit, or just use Ctrl+F to search for the word Fastconv, http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/fast.php. There is a link there is download the tool.
