Files and Settings Transfer/Fastwiz Failure

In preparation for reformating my harddrive, I used FAST to backup settings
and files on my XP Upgraded/SP2 computer. Now, from my XP clean install w/
SP2 & Office (nothing else), FAST consistently crashes at roughly 60%, as
does Dr. Watson/Post Mortem (apparently the error handler for XP - I didn't
install it). The last 3 lines of the fastwiz log file are consistently:

Warning Empty registry specification cannot be processed
Warning Empty registry specification cannot be processed
Warning Empty registry specification cannot be processed

-whether run from a normal startup or safe mode.

I've read thru the messages here and don't know what I should do next. I
would appreciate any guidance. Thx!

The .DAT file within the USMT2.UNC folder should be named IMG00001.DAT
There should also be a file named "status". If you have these two files within
the USMT2.UNC folder, you should only browse to the "USMT2.UNC" folder
when using the wizard.

==> Make sure your IMG00001 file is properly named: IMG00001.DAT

You need to browse to the location of the "USMT2.UNC" folder. Do not browse
to or select the IMG00001.DAT file, only the USMT2.UNC folder itself.

For example, my location is: D:\Old Computer Files\Transfers\USMT2.UNC

The files are as named and that is the directory to which I browse. It all
starts fine - it just doesn't end....

Thanks!

Possible that it cannot write to some registry location/create it. Perhaps
you should install some more of the applications you had on the old system
first.

xThanks for the suggestion. I've reinstalled everything I intend to (which,
of course, is a fraction of all the crap I had on there...) and both FAST and
Dr. Watson crashed at the same spot.
