I accidently deleted a file on my home computer. I do not have a previous
copy anywhere & I need the files I deleted. I found the folder in my "recent"
folder, but when I try to open I get an error saying "problem with
shortcut...cannot be found...the shortcut has been moved or deleted..."
Please help!!!!

Luckily for you, the file is probably sitting in the Recycle Bin.
Go to your desktop and look for it.

Did you try your recycle bin? Double click on it. If you see the file in
there highlight it and press recover.

Inquiring minds want to know.

somehow on my recylce bin properties there was a box checked that said "do
not move files to recyle bin. Remove files immediately when deleted"
so...when I went to check there it was completly empty...

That is too bad. Windows ships with the Recycle Bin enabled.
Be sure to re-enable your Recycle Bin for the next time. Everyone needs a
Recycle Bin.

You could try a recovery program, i.e., recover4all.

http://www.recover4all.com/

Do not do any file creating, saving, downloading to your hard drives.
Download recover4all to a floppy, install it on a floppy and run it from the
floppy.
(or cd, dvd, zip drive, just don't write to your hard drive).

Tis I said:
Do you have a backup?

;-)

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? The OP wrote, and I quote, "I
do not have a previous copy anywhere"
