File Warnings

Is there any way to turn off warnings that pop up when I try to open files?
I am aware of virus risk and don't need to be hassled every time I want to
open a file. It's especially annoying when I try to open, for example, a
sound file stored on my own hard drive from a hyperlink I have created in,
say, One Note.

Excuse a momentary rant: there are NO WORDS for how sick to death I am of
intrusive paternalism in all areas of life inside the United States.

I'm not dealing with attachments, but with -- the most recent annoyance -- a
wav file stored on my hard drive and hyperlinked inside One Note. When I
click on the link, I am told such files could contain a virus. This happens
to be for language studies, and I have a large number of these wav files, so
it's a big annoyance when I have to close an idiot box every time I want to
access a word pronounciation
