In XP you could setup a number of option on you right mouse click to open a
particular file type. It use to be in explorer under

Tool>>folder options>>file types

select the desired file type and setup the new operation.

Files types have been removed from the folder options tab in explorer.

Can this function be set up in VISTA?????

You can set file associations in Control Panel / Default Programs

Control Panel / Default Programs only allows you to change the Default option
(generally the preview option) that occurs when you double-click a file. How
can I change the edit option, or the view options, or add these options for a
particular file type?

Thanks.

Mel,

Unfortunately, you'll have to edit the registry in order to modify "edit" and other verbs for a file type. Or, you may try this utility.
