File Types

Where is the counterpart in Vista to XP's FOLDERS|VIEW|FILE TYPES dialog
- where new types and mimetypes can be configured?

I am aware of the CONTROL PANEL|PROGRAMS|DEFAULT PROGRAMS, but
functionality there is limited.

I think what you are looking for is found by clicking Organize - Folder
Options at the top of any explorer window.
Though I am not in Vista atm and relying on my rather short memory ;)

No. That brings up the FOLDERS dialog, but the far right tab is now
SEARCH, instead of FILE TYPES - which is functionality that I am
seeking. Thanks.

I know what your talking about. I miss it too. Hopefully its just missing in
the beta. It would be pretty stupid to drop it completely. You need to be
able to add file types and be able to change icons for file types etc. Maybe
its just hiding off in the corner somewhere but I havent found it.

And create NEW types, which doesn't now appear to be available. Removing
this feature would be a major oversight, IMO.

Thanks.
