file transfers

Just purchased sysstem with XP and want to transfer my files from old
computer with Windows ME to this one . I tried direct cable connection using
the proper cable and recieved message that connection was made but can't see
other coputer on list on guest computer.

Can you ping each other? Also have created the same username on both computers? This troubleshooting tips may help,

Use the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" in Windows XP and either
transfer them via network, shared drive, or CD/DVD/etc.
