I have a laptop with such little memory that XP is not an option. Have installed 2000 and am attempting to use the File Transfer via a serial cable. There is no wizard with 2000 and I do not know what to do, or if it is possible.

Martin,
I can't help you with that, but I can give you other suggestions.
Transfering large amounts of data via serial can take forever and a day. You
could have better luck with ethernet cards or with something like LapLink
and a parallel cable (propietary to LapLink, not just any parallel cable)
Just a suggestion.
