File Transfer Help Needed

Can someone please tell me how to temporarily install my old hard drive in
my new XP machine so I can transfer personal files to my new machine? No
matter how I hook it up it installs as a Secondary Slave and Explorer shows
it to be empty. The old disk files are FAT32. My direct cabe File Transfer
Wizard is painfully slow and hangs at the point of transfer.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

.
Strange, it should show as a PRIMARY Slave. Secondary's
are (normaly) your removable storage devices like CD
drives. Make sure you heve it connected to your primary
cable. You should use the disk that came with your new
hard drive, which will help you transfer your files from
the one drive to the next. There are also many popular
programs that will help you transfer your files and
manage your disk drives. Partition Magic is one that I
can think of off the top of my head. Good luck.
