I have a new computer which is running Windows XP - how do I transfer all my files from old machine that are running on Windows 98? I am a novice. They are currently linked together with a wireless remote.

Run the XP Network Setup Wizard (Start, Control Panel, Network Connections,
Set up a home network...) on your XP machine.

When that's done, on your 98 machine go to My Computer and right click the
drive you want to copy. Click sharing. Share the drive.

On your XP machine go to my computer and in the address bar type
\\98ComputerName where 98ComputerName is the name you gave your 98 computer.

Open the folder, and copy and paste.

WARNING: it could take hours, deppending on the size of your files.
