File Tranfer - Wizard Not Working In 98SE

Greetings!

I've just finished my 2nd build & its time to move in. I need to move info
from my old 98SE rig to my XP Home one. I tried using the wizard from XP but
when I run it on the old machine, it never asks for a floppy. I can see it
collecting the data but to where?

If I was to hunt & peck, is there somewhere a list of files I MUST transfer?
Do I need to transfer settings as well?

I know to transfer the obvious - docs, pixs, bookmarks, etc.

Point me in a direction, any would be great!

P.S. I did purchase a usb data transfer cable that I would LOVE to use but I
don't understand the software. I assume its drag & drop but nothing happens.
Both machines are connected & I did install the driver on the 98SE rig.

Personnally I would only transfer docs/data
Since win9* is totally different from a win NT based PC transfering anything
else may screw up your new PC

I would also simply slave the old HD to the new to copy data across

NEVER use the FSTW between 98 and XP. Doing so will damage the registry on
the XP machine. (Found that one out the hard way!)

Take a look under "C:\Documents and Settings\username" on the XP machine,
and you will see most of the folders you need to transfer. On 98 most of
these are under c:\Windows with the exception of "My Documents" which is in
the root.

Email is a little tricky as the locations differ, the best answer here may
be to export and re-import. Or, use a third-party OE backup tool, of which
several exist.
