File sharing

I need help. Every time I open a document file in XP I
get the message, "(my name) is using this file. Would you
like to make a copy." How can I prevent this message from
popping up? I am not familiar with XP. Did I change
something accidently. This was not happening a few days
ago. Thanks

Sounds like you may be opening it twice somehow. Are you double-clicking it
to open the file? Check in Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, and see
if "Click items as follows" is set to single click or double click. If it's
set to single click and you double click the file, I think it will open it
twice, and on the second one you might get the message you're seeing. Also,
try opening it through the recent Documents link in the Start Menu and see
if it does the same thing.
