File Sharing solution for XP sp2

Ok, this is kind of a cross post but this will solve a lot of the similar
problems I've been reading about on this thread. Sometimes Microsoft makes
thing too complex. Go to the following web location then read the section
toward the bottom or type in file sharing in the search Microsoft.com and go
to the link marked
"How to configure file sharing in Windows XP" and follow the instructions.
It was like night an day for me and I got my network back.

I've read this article top to bottom 3 times and I'm left with more
questions than answers. Nowhere does this article explain what simple file
sharing does, only how to turn it on & off. I've fixed my problem (see my
3-15 post) but only thru hours of fiddling around with permissions and such.
Saying Microsoft makes things too complex is an huge understatement.
Does anyone know of a comprehensive deciphering of Windows file sharing that
I could read and get some enlightenment on the subject?
Many thanx,
Rip

Actually, it's quite simple. If you don't muck about with permissions or
security, and leave the guest account alone, running the Network Setup
Wizard will make things work first time, every time. Simple File Sharing is
exactly what it says - no explanation needed, the entire network is open for
everyone to browse. If you don't like that thought, then you need to google
for any of dozens of network setup tutorials that explain how to set up
permissions, security, etc. when applicable.
