Hi,

I have five laptops on my network. I use a Uniden router. All of them are on the same workgroup & file sharing is enabled on all of them. The other four laptops are able to see my machine but i cannot connect to the other four. This is the error i get when connecting -
workgroup is not accessible.you might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Incorrect function.

I have guest accounts on all the machines.
ICF is turned off
NETBIOS is enabled
I have mcafee firewall plus installed. i have added the LAN IP address range to trusted networks. Another machine also has the same setting & it can access my pc.

I have browsed thru a lot of posts but hv not been able to get this working.
any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks
Hussain

I have been having EXACTLY the same problem, and have tried everything to correct it. I have a laptop running Windows XP Pro, and a desktop running WinXP Home. Both also have McAfee Firewall. After reading your email, it occurred to me that the common link might be the firewall. I had disabled it on both computers, but I still couldn't connect to the XP Pro system from XP Home system. I just uninstalled McAfee it from the computer running XP Home (it's still installed and enabled on the XP Pro system), and voila! Everything works.

Good luck,

Dan

Firewall software could cause this. Also, XP Home allows for 5 concurrent
connections.
