File sharing in Safe mode w/networking???

XP Home on PC needs re-installing, so I want to copy files from pc to laptop.
PC works in safe mode w/networking, but I can't seem to access my PC files
and folders from the laptop. Internet works on PC while in safe mode also.

Any suggestions?
