File selection problem

For years I have used the technique to select files by either Ctrl-click or
Shift-Click. All of a sudden, my computer will not let me use these
techniques. Also, the Ctrl key does not allow me to shortcut the Google
popup stopper.

As usual, any help is appreciated.

If "Scroll Lock" is enabled, turn it off.
