file printing issue

I have a Word file from one of our business partners. I can open it and make
changes however anytime I try to print it goes into a spooling mode and my
laptop bogs down. The document never prints. I've never had this issue on
this computer in 21/2 yrs I've used it and I use Word everyday. I'm using
Word 2002. He tried saving it as Word 2000, 2002 , 2003 and it doesn't seem
to matter. I've tried from email attachement, direct from a memory stick to
no avail. This is a major frustartion since this is a critical manual I need
to print out. He says he can print fine. I scanned for viruses- none. I've
tried it on other PC's in our office and same result. Any ideas would be

Perhaps if he saved it as .RTF it would work?
