file paths have changed to reflect the local drive insted of the server path??

My recent problem seems to have occurred when I used the
import wizard to create a new backup version or work-in-
progress version. Thought I was protecting myself but
instead found that all my paths were reset to the local
computer.

I made my changes, and published. Everything looked great
on my PC but when I published to my host server, none of
the pictures or links worked any longer. Found that it
didn't resolve to the server locations and kept the local
paths. All of a sudden, all of my file paths have
retained my local C: paths instead of my expeceted server
path ie. "//images" for example. I don't remember
resetting any parameters but it acts as if some global
settings have changed and also seems to be effecting
other web projects I am working on. I'm afraid to open
any more files for fear of corruption or path cahnges.
This site is too large to try and go through and globally
find and replace every item. Can anyone lend any help to
get my links and image paths back to correct on the
server? I tried to fix links on my local PC but haven't
yet tried it on the server. Any help woould be very much
appreciatted.Thx

This would be a good time to contact your host and ask if
they can restore your site from a backup.

If not:
1. Copy the local backup version to a new location.
2. Start FrontPage and choose Open Web (or Open Site)
from the File menu.
3. Specify the new location from step 1, then click OK.
4. If FrontPage asks whether to add information to
your site, answer Yes.
5. Choose Recalculate Hyperlinks from the tools menu.
6. Look around and see how bad things are. Then, try
doing some global search/replaces.
For example, if the new copy of your backup begins
at c:\secondbu\, and you have a lot of hyperlinks
beginning at that path, try doing a global
search/replace (specifying Find In HTML or Find In
Source Code) from c:\secondbu\ to /.
7. Next time, don't use the Import command to
"pull down" a copy of your Web. Instead, open the
remote Web site in FrontPage, and publish it to a
local folder.

OK.. This seems to correct the file paths as I expect to
see them when I bring it back up on FP (2002) and view
the picture properties but now they don't seem to resolve
to the images on the local machine. Same thing happens
with preview. All images have the little boxed red x in
the upper left hand corner.
Even though I think this is the correct format for the
server when I uploda or publish, its acting the other way
where my reference to /images/file.jpg is now trying to
resolve from the root of the C Drive.

I suppose if I had to choose, I'd rather have it this way
and upload to test but it seems very strange that I can
no longer see wysiwyg on my desktop. Any suggestions?
