Hi, I have a file that just opens automatically when my comp gets turned on.
How do I stop this from happening?

Hi

Which particular file - a Windows or 3rd party one?

It's just a 'Dell' media experience file.

Thanks so much for your research, but there is no Dell 'quickset' that I can
see.

Mel,

I would imagine that you need to disable DMXLauncher.exe. You could
either edit the registry, use msconfig, or a nice little program called
Startup Control Panel:

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

The key you need to disable (more than likely) is:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run DMXLauncher

If you use Startup Control Panel, click on the HKLM / Run tab and
uncheck DMXLauncher.

Or if you prefer to use msconfig,

Start > Run > msconfig > Startup tab > uncheck DMXLauncher

HTH.
