all programs micrsoft and adobe, that have file open
commands and in window for go to when click on drop down
for go to programs stop responding

Do the programs ever become active or are you terminating them when they
become unresponsive? Try scandisk, defrag the hard drive and scan your
machine for virus - use the latest signature files from your virus software
vendor.
