file name/path

Ed

Good morning,

In Word 03, I was able to get the file name & path to be inserted as
a header/footer in any document. In Word 07, the version I've got anyway, I
can only find the file name in the same area of options i.e. Quick
parts/field in the header footer tools. Has file path part of the file name
& path option been dropped? am I blind? or is it still available but in a
different menu area? Many thanks any advice.

Ed,

That was an old AutoText entry.

You can still get File path and name by inserting the FileName field with
the \p switch. Select the FileName field, click options, Field specific
switches, Add to field, OK, OK.

You can then select that field, then QuickParts>Save selection to Quick
Parts Gallery

Microsoft "forgot" to add it to the defaults. MVP Beth Melton has supplied a
template to add it. See her instructions at
