File is not valid or is corrupted

hello,

i took a 40 minute video that is 10 mb.
the file format is .asf
i tried to import it into movie maker 2 and got a message that the file is
not valid or is corrupted.
is there a way to repair this file?

Hi Graham,

I renamed it to .wmv. It now has sound, but no picture.
I tried bringing it into movie maker, but i still get a message saying that
it is corrupt.

Try following:
Download and install Windows Media Encoder.
Either re-encode the file through the encoder or use the utility: Windows
media File Editor to re-index it.
