Hello everybody,

I have used the TweakUI powertoy in XP to change the number of files windows
explorer saves settings for. The new number is 4000 which is nowhere near
the number of files on my notebook. Every so often for no apparent reason
when I click on a folder in my documents it will have reverted back to the
default file settings-there is no ryhme nor reason for this-it doesn't
happen at ant consistent interval. I have, use, and update MacAfee Personal
firewall, Virusscan, Spybot, and Adaware. I have found no malicious trojans
or files yet this continues to happen. I have also had a couple of the icons
on my desktop change back to the default icon by themselves.

Around the same time autodial for dialup connections started to popup all
the time-I do into the advances settings for dial up connections and disable
"autodial when I am logged in" but it never saves the setting.

I believe all these issues are related. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,

The TweakUI process doesn't always work right. See this from MVP Kelly for a
way to increase this number:

Line 2, increase the folder view size limit to 8000

The fix used in TweakUI has a mistake in it, and modifies the wrong
value in the registry. Go instead to Kelly's
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
and get the fix in the left column, second line
