file find text search

some time ago I thought I remembered downloading an excellent file find
/text search utility. I thought its name was something like AIDA or AVAST
(yes I know what these programs are and I don't have them confused. It
isn't agent ransack either. I have just downloaded two find and replace
files..

can someone recommend a good fast text searcher and file searcher program?

Both the two listed there are good GUI apps. If your prefer even more

For the file find, could it be Ava Find
(http://www.think-less-do-more.com/avafind/) that you're thinking of?

For text find utils, you might try either InfoRapid Search & Replace
(http://www.inforapid.de) or WanyWord (http://home4.inet.tele.dk/jensguld/).
The former is more powerful, but depending upon your needs, the latter may
be just right.
