file encryption

if i encrypt a file with windows xp pro, how do i know if i have properley
exported the certificates for the encryption. if one makes a mistake, the
files are lost if the hard drive crashes

Well, I guess you could export the certificates, copy the file to another PC
where you cannot use it, import the certificates, try it..
