file encryption in xp pro

I want to encrypt some folders in XP Pro but I don't recall ever creating a
certificate. I can specify files and folders for encryption and that all
works fine but how do I know that a strong password exists for whatever
key/certificate that might exist? When and how could my personal encryption
certificate with its associated private key have been created? Can I view
them? Can I change them? Is my login password part of that information? I
don't have a floppy - can I export private keys to a device that contains
other information - such as a usb data key? Since this is all related, is
there a single document that contains all this info in one place?
