file conversion error

I get an error message when I try to convert an Access 2003 file to 2007. It
states: "You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively
by user ‘Admin’ on machine "X". Try again when the database is available."
The file is on my personal machine, not shared by anyone. I have opened the
file "non-exclusive", but keep getting the same error. Happens both when
using th file convert function, or "Saving As" a 2007 database. Any ideas?
I've tried on other Access files and works fine, just having trouble with
this particular file.

Try moving the file into a different folder.

For example, create a folder C:\Data and move it there. Don't place it in a
virtualized folder (such as C:\Program Files), nor a Windows off-line
folder.

Also, if you see a small LDB file in the same folder as the MDB, delete it.
It contains spurious locking info (typically left behind after a crash), and
can cause this message.
