How much winzip compress a file as I don't see much difference in original
file size and zipped file (for example 8 MB:7.4 MB). what's the reason and is
there some other option to compress a file (movie clip)so that I can send it
by email. thanks

First,it does compress the file in size,2nd It makes a more secure file to
send
by being zipped.

Hiii, Depending upon the format u are trying to compress compression level
differs. Some formats are already compresed like video formats mp4 or divx
you cant get any more compression out of them but if u try the same with a
txt file or doc file u will get a very high compression rate. nyways here's
a software better than winzip that supports all various compression formats
including the very new high compression standard 7zip the url is
www.7-zip.org and its free.

Hope this helps..,

Whether you're using Winzip or any other compression program, the amount of
compression you get depends on the type of file it is, and what its
particular content is. Most pictures/video/audio are already compressed and
zipping them compresses them either little or not at all. In some cases,
compressing can actually make the file slightly larger, because you get the
overhead of compression, but no actual compression.

As a simplistic example of why content matters, realize that you could
compress a file that contained the string
"xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" with the shorter string "40 x's"
but you couldn't do anything like that with the string "The quick brown fox
jumped over the lazy dog."
