File closing when link is not updated

When I open an excel file in the shared folder, it asks whether t
update the links or to contnue without updating. When I selec
continue, the file is closed automatically. I had no problems with th
file until yesterday, but today, it started to act strange. This file
has various macros and if I open the file with out enabling the macros
then this problem disappears (it not automatically closing the file)
Any help will be greatly appreciated

It doesn't sound like the macro is doing it, but I'd check that first.

And then I'd build a small workbook with a couple of test links to see if the
problem exists on a new workbook.

If it works ok, I think I'd try rebuilding the real workbook to see if that
helped.
