file broken causing "file system is RAW"

By accident, when I downloading a big file from web, I was using Microsoft IE
browser tool to delete web temporary internet file, the downloaded file was
broken. When re-boot, got a blue screen with the following message:
SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED …
STOP: 0x0000006F (0xC0000130, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Then re-boot using Safe Mode, got following message:
Checking file system on C:
The type of file system is RAW
AUTOCHK is not available for raw drives
Windows has finished checking the disks.

It looks Safe mode worked properly, the broken file caused HD something
wrong, but Windows System files are ok and working. Current PC could not run
in normal mode.

Is there any solution or tool to fix the problem in Safe mode?
If no, do I have to backup all files then re-format HD, re-install Windows XP?

Thanks!

Hello!
It seems your partition is corrupted.
Try Partition Recovery Software.
I recommend Active@Partitition recovery.

Of course it does! Unless you are acessing the disk directly without
the use of a file system the disk must have at least one partition.

My HD has no partition.

What you say isn't possible if Windows is installed on the drive. You
are apparently one of the many people who unfortunately misunderstand
the word "partition," and don't realize that if you all have is a C:
drive, that c: is a partition.

You have to have at least one partition to use the drive, and most
people have only a single partition, C:.

Thanks.

It definitely has at least one. It can't run without it. The partition is
the defined section of hard disk that is formatted and has the OS and data
on it.

Some systems, such as Dells, have a secondary partition that stores utility
or restore programs.

Does the system boot at all, in Safe Mode? Does it get past the disk check?
If so, you're very lucky and can copy your data off to another system, and
you should do so at the earliest opportunity. Do remember to get your
email and address files.

More details as to exactly what happens would be helpful.

Here's an article about that Stop error, referencing Windows 2000 and NT:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153742

Other articles suggest that this can be related to hardware, if it appears
during installation.

In Safe mode, many system files did not run, and CHKDSK command did not get
past for “file system is RAWâ€. Based on discussion, and I have no experiences
in DOS and Console command, I will do the following steps:
1. Backup first;
2. Try rollback from XP SP3 to XP SP2, if it is possible in Safe mode – it
will automatically replace current corrupted SP3 system file;
3. Else, using Windows XP Recovery Console to replace corrupted system files;
4. Finally try to use Recovery tool.
Any idea or suggestion?
Thanks.

From what I've seen, the problem is likely a corrupted Windows system
file. The problem is, I haven't seen anything that suggests how you
might figure out *which* system file is corrupted. Unfortunately, the
Windows system file checker (sfc /scannow) doesn't work in Safe Mode, so
you can't do that.

For example, from http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.php
0x0000006F: SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED
(Click to consult the online MSDN article.)
The process creation failure indicated by this error message can only happen during the fairly brief time that the Windows Executive is being initialized, which is during phase 4 of Windows startup. Typically there is a problem with a device driver or with a missing or corrupt system file used during Windows startup.

* STOP 0x0000006F During System Initialization {KB 153742} Win 2000
* System or Boot Disk Listed as Dynamic Unreadable in Disk Management {KB 236086} Win 2000

The linked MSDN article is unhelpful, and the other 2 articles are not
much better (see Aumha page above for active links to references).

With respect to your proposed course of action, definitely do #1.

Before you uninstall SP3, try using System Restore in Safe Mode.

If that doesn't work, I would try the Recovery Console next. I don't
know if system file checker works from the Recovery Console, try it.
Replacing corrupted system files manually using the Recovery Console is
a good idea, but I'm not sure how you're going to determine what files
to replace.

You can then attempt to uninstall SP3.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Recovery Tool," but the next step I would
attempt at this point would be an XP Repair Install. Depending on what
service pack level you have on your Windows XP CD, you may have to
slipstream sp2 or sp3 before you can do a Repair Install.

In all probability your system is infected with Rootkit(s). I had the same issue. Download a rootkit revealer from www.sysinternals.com and run a test. My guess is that you'll see a 'goapdxserv.sys' in your system.
