File association!

Hi there!
Under WinXP Home Ed. SP2, is it possible to block existing file associations
so that new installed software cannot modify them anymore??

Just an exemple: installing MS Autoroute 2000 grabs .psp extension from
PaintShop Pro, and now it appears as "Microsoft Expedia bla-bla-bla" (but I
got no Expedia sw installed!!!) ... it's really boring to set it back to PSP
each time!
Same thing happens with some other sw installation.

Please help!
