Launching an excel file from explorer give an error message

'The file F:\.... cannot be found ....'

Opening it from within Excel works fine.

The problem started with office 97 and the MS KB said the
problem was sorted out in later version. Using 2003
hasn't solved the problem.

I've tried all the usual, 'Open with ...' etc without
success.

Hi
try the following:
goto 'Tools-Options-General " and uncheck "Ignore other Applications"
Exit Excel and try again

If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel

1. Close Excel first and
2. On the Windows Taskbar
2.1 Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2.2 Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

If that doesn't work -

My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types, Search for XLS
highlight, click advanced, select *open* under actions, click Edit an
check the application path is correct
