Hi,
I used files and settings transfert in order to back up my stuff and restore
it. Problem is the original pc no longer exists and the wizard doesn't
reinstall what I had; lots of stuff missing or files dates not correct.
iIs there a way I can edit the large .dat file or put some parameters in so
I can have control over what is happening ?
thanks a ton,
David

I have not heard of a way to edit the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard
files.

However, from your statement, "and the wizard doesn't reinstall what I had",
I would like to clarify you know what it does and doesn't do..
You can move any combination of the following user files and settings:

a.. Files and folders (e.g., My Documents, My Pictures, select
file-extension types)
b.. Accessibility settings
c.. Command prompt settings
d.. Display properties
e.. Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) settings
f.. Mouse and keyboard settings
g.. Network printer and drive settings
h.. Outlook Express settings
i.. Regional settings
j.. Sounds and multimedia settings
k.. Taskbar options
l.. Application-specific settings
But it does not move the applications themselves and the applications in
question should be installed before importing the profile so the settings do
not get overwritten by the installation of the applications in question.

Also, this list gives you an idea of what settings for what applications it
will move:
