I created back ups for Windows XP, and MS Word using the File and Settings
Transfer Wizard on my old coputer. Now when I try to restor it on my new
computer it says the image was created with an older version and will not
continue.

Both versions were Windows XP SP2. My old computer is gone, How do I use
the image files that I saved?

I kept an image of the old hard drive, so I found the Migwiz.exe file and
copied it over, however, I still get the same mesaage. Since I have the old
image, is there a way to re-create the file settings data? or manually copy
them?

so I found the Migwiz.exe file and copied it over

See if installing the update KB896344 helps, rather than copying the file manually.

Thank you for your response, but at this point, I found it easier to simply
re-create all of the settings and copy the data files manually.

I guess I will chalk this one up to another "feature" that does not quite
work yet.

John,
I had the same situation but what I did was go to the old computer, created
a FASTwiz disk and with it I was able to migrate the data to the new
computer. Even though the two computers were XP SP2 the FAST wiz would not
work on both. This was the best way I found with no problem.

As for FASTwiz, I have used about 15 times in my office to change computers
from 98 or XP to XP and only that one time have I had a problem. My gut
tells me it was caused by a "Dirty" version of XP which we now got rid of.

Hope this helps for the future.
