File and folder will not delete

I have been trying to delete a folder named "GM"
containing one file. I can open up the folder and delete
the file, the file disappears. When I try to delete the
folder it says "Cannot remove folder GM: the directory is
not empty." I have checked the file properties and
nothing seems amiss. When I open up the GM folder, the
file once again appears. The GM folder is locked in
the "read only" mode, even after I open properties and
clear the read only box. Help! Gus
 
What's the file for and what is it's name and what does GM stand fo.
