File and folder permission prob..help plz.thnx in advance

Hi there

i'm have a prob setting file and folder permission on a shared folder..

This way the client wants it

Shared Directory on Win2k Server
Must be able to create and name/rename Sub-Directory From Main Share
Directory
create and delete file from the Main Share Directory and Sub-Directory
but not be able to delete any Sub Directorys Created in the Main Share
Directory

How do i go about setting this up..

I have managed to get so that then can creat file, delete them and change
them,.
able to create sub-directory but not able to rename or name them. and they
cannot be delete either.

any ideas where i'm going wrong.???

This question does not seem to be related to Microsoft Access - the database
application that is part of MS Office professional.

Please post your message in a newsgroup related to your question. Maybe a
windows newsgroup related to security?

If you have not done so yet take a look at the possibilities with special
permissions in the advanced page of the security tab. What most do not
realize is that a user/group can have multiple special permissions based on
the choices in the "apply onto" box such as folders only, files only,
folders and subfolders, etc. By doing that you should be able to do what you
need to do. The "generic" permissions seen on the main security page that
are not dimmed are for folders, subfolders, and files. The link below should
be helpful in explaining special permissions. A user needs to have delete
permissions to an object in order to rename it unless the user is the owner
I believe so you may have problems trying to allow a user/group the ability
to rename an object without being able to delete it. Also keep in mind that
the user that creates an object will be the owner and have the permissions
that creator owner shows [full control by default] applied to them for those
objects they create. --- Steve
