Fields not shrinking

I have a report that has two fields (that contain email addresses), that I
am trying to print on a report, right next to each other. They have the same
Top value, and same height value. I have them both set to Can Grow and Can
Shrink. However, when both fields are blank, it still shows a blank line on
the report (nothing else is within the height of these two cells, they are
on their own "line". What might be interfering?

Also set the CanGrow and CanShrink properties to Yes for the section in
which these textboxes are located (perhaps the Detail section?).

Everything on the report is set to CanGrow and CanShrink, and still nothing
is shrinking. And the fields in question are in a header section, by the
way. Any other possibilities?

?"Artwork"? -- any chance there are OTHER objects in that section?

Maybe I'm not getting something about how reports are supposed to work... My
"parent record" data is in a grouping header, and my child record data is in
the Detail section (I should also mention I have some sorts "on top" of the
group header - there are 2 group headers after the page header, though the
first group header is empty (no fields). If I delete all the fields in my
second group header, it still shows the full height of the group header in
my report, even though it's sent to CanShrink. Is that the way it's supposed
to work?

Which header section? Page header section doesn't have CanGrow or CanShrink
property.
