Fields Nested Too Deeply

Client sent me a protected form-type document. It contains FormText fields.
Upon opening, a constant series of the above error keeps popping up so you
cannot even work on the document.

Knowledge Base says this is a merge problem or involves using INCLUDETEXT
field to insert a subdocument. Neither explanation applies here. I tried
opening with Recover Text.... but that loses all the table formatting.

What can be done with this document to stop this error message popping up
all the time?
