Field input based on a list generated from a previous field's

I am creating a recipe database. I have a drop down menu with ingredients.
These are generally basic (e.g. mushrooms). I would like to connect that
with subsets (e.g. portabellas, porcini). How do I make it so that only
those linked to the basic ingredient inputted show up in the second box?
