Field Cannot be Updated

When I select a field from a combo box on my form, I immediately get the
error message: "Field cannot be updated. (Error 3164)"
I click OK in the error message window and the field is then immediately
updated! So the form works but is still irritating.
The database was copied from a customer's network, if that is an issue. Is
there a fix for this problem?
