My Windows\system32\drivers (XP SP2) has a file called fidbox.dat. The file
gets hit a lot during boots. What is it and can it be deleted? Thanks.

Thanks.

Do you have ZoneAlarm installed? I Googled "fidbox.dat" and got a couple of
hits about this on the ZoneAlarm forums. If you do have ZA installed, I
suggest you go over to their forums and take a look.

I already checked them out. They refer to the Kaspersky AV program, which I
do not have. I have tried deleting the file, but it somehow gets reallocated.

Then I'm sorry but I'm out of ideas. You've obviously already spent the same
time I did in Googling and since you know what you have installed on your
own box, I can't help you further.

Thanks anyway. Kaspersky has a fixup program, but you have to lie to it to
get it to work. Ran it and it got rid of the file.
