Feb CTP

Chuk

Today I attended a presentation by Microsoft on Vista.

At that presentation they handed out disks of the Vista Beta dated
February CTP with a warning not to install on a system holding any
critical data.

That is fair enough, and I have a spare disk whcih I can install on.

My query is as to whether there is likely to be any time limit on use
of this beta, because if so, I may hold off on installation until I
have upgraded my graphics card.

My existing system is an AMD Athlon XP 3000 with 1 gig RAM but the
card is only an NVIDIA GE Force 5200 with 128 meg.

Is this likely to run Vista reasonably?

Appreciate you advice.

It will most likely be a 1 year of use with the activation. As for your
system, it looks just fine. Not sure about glass, but you should still be
able to run vista. Zack or Andre will be able to tell you better then me if
it will run Glass.

Applied but still waiting to be accepted for the Vista Beta Testing group.
Can't wait to be able to play and help make it even better.

Yeh - generally it's not the card you need to worry about. If you bought a
new card, 64MB+ within the last 6 months it should run Glass. You just need
to make sure you can find drivers thats all ;o)

Minimum Glass requirements:

According to the EULA the Febuary CTP expires on September 30th, 2006.

Mine says July 2007 - must be different because yours is MSDN perhaps?

Where is that from? That's not from the Vista setup, and doesn't appear to
be a web page dialog either.

It might help if you Reduce your Display Screen Resolution to 800 X 600
(which is what I am using, and I can read it just fine, thank you very
much).

Type in WINVER at the Run Command and then Click on End User License
Agreement (EULA).

That is the Official EULA that is included with my MSDN Copy of Build 5308
CTP.

Then your copy is an illegal pirated copy.
You need to turn yourself in right away!

This is most likely a bug then. They might not have got round to changing
the EULA. Don't take everything so literally.

Well done in showing your Product ID to the world... you've just "violated
your MSDN NDA".
