FE/BE Network location & Workgroup duplication

Is it possible to use two workgroups, one for the FE and the other for the
BE? The reason I ask is because the target line is too long due to the
locations on the network. Unless there is another way to do this???

Possibly, in 1% of cases, if you use certain special techniques.
Otherwise, in 99% of cases, where you do not understand those
techniques - no.

Ok, so your question is actually nothing to do with using multiple
workgroups. It is to do with reducing the length of the target line on
your shortcuts. Yes?

If so, try using UNC paths. Google the access newsgroups for that term,
there should be tons of hits.

yes my question was actually how to shorten the length of the target but I
was thinking about using 2 workgroups to do this. I will check out google.
Thanks for your help!

After reviewing the UNC I've realized that I'm already using it. But I still
have the problem of the path being too long. Do I have any other options
other than making 2 workgroups?

You could share the folder which contains the FE and the workgroup file so
the path would be as short as possible such as:

\\Server\Share\FE.mdb

I don't understand how you think that using 2 workgroups, could
possibly help you shorten the path in the shortcut! That does not make
any sense, to me.

Show us the shortcut data that you are currently using. Then someone
can probably help.
