i have xp and i use a printer that has a scanner (not a fax)! i can fax
documents that i build in WORD, but i cannot fax a document that i scanned
into WORD !are there any solutions?

Probably, but you've posted no information that would permit one.
State the fax software you are using.
State the format of these scanned documents.

The software is Windows Fax Console.

What goes wrong when you try?

That's likely because the scanned "document" is stored by the scanner in a
graphics format, and placed into word still in a graphics format.
The fax program you are using is not smart enough to handle the imbedded
graphic.
