Windows Fax is not part of Home Premium.
You will have to use a third party program.
I don't know of any, sorry. Google.

Not unless you want to pay microsoft for the ultimate upgrade, some idiot at
microsoft thought it would be a great idea to eliminate it from home users.

for all verision of Vista

Yes and if you have one line a good fax switch.
Fax software at snappysoftware.com Snappy Fax Verision 4.0 is working fine
for me.

Also I only have one line for data and voice.
I bought a fax switch from Stapple.
It was ComSwitch 5500 and I used the Semi-automactic mode and it works great.

it from home users.

They are not idiots except they are totally disconnected to the real people
in the real life. Hey, they don't use fax so why would anyone else in the
world wants to use fax, especially you should be living in a "digital" home
now.

If you are not, it's YOUR fault :)

Wait! Is this really true? I have an HP laptop with a fax modem, but I can't use it because MS did not include the fax program in the Vista Home premium OS? My disenchantment grows from day to day. Can I install Winfax 8? Is there any work around short of an "ugrade" to another level of Vista frustration?

Admittedly, I did not test or play with home premium and it is based on all
the complaints that I read and heard everywhere including here.

So I guess that's true.

If you have HP all-in-one (or maybe other brands as well but I don't know
since I use HP only), you might be ok for using bundled software.

Someone also suggested a commercial version for under $30. But I think it
should be like the notepad which means to be free. So...

PS: I had Winfax Pro 10.xx but I couldn't find the disk anymore or I would
have tested it.

Good luck.

WinFax Pro 10.xx (I think I have 10.03) could not install in Vista and as
far as I can tell Symantec no longer supports WinFax Pro.
Good luck.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!! SURELY BILL HAS MADE ENOUGH FOR 10 LIFETIMES.
WHY WOULD ONE OF THE MOST COMMON FEATURES BE ELIMINATED AND IT IS BAD ENOUGH
TO USE VISTA AND HALF THE THINGS YOU REQUIRE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE, AS YET, AND
MAKING A ONE DAY SET-UP TAKING 2 MONTHS TO BE ABLE TO OPERATE A PC AS NOT
MANY PEOPLE ARE EDUCATED ON VISTA. BESIDES THAT, WHERE'S MY FAX!!!?????

When I was running the Vista Beta, I could use a Fax Modem only if I
enabled it after boot. Basically, I could not boot with it so I would
disable it prior to shutdown an enable it when I needed it. The drivers
loaded fine, but for some reason would not boot without a blue screen.
