Fax and Remote Dial-In?

B

Brian Higgins

Is there a way to setup a SBS2003 server using the Shared Fax Service to
also accept RRAS Dial-In calls on the same modem as the fax line? One of my
clients refuses to purchase anything better then a Linksys Router for her
office and every time it goes down (roughly once per week, and at any time
of the day or night) I get a panic'd phone call on my cell that the server
has crashed. it would be very nice to be able to dial in and verify that
everything is ok with the server so I don't have to drive nearly an hour
away at whatever time in the night she calls to go reset her router (her
office is on a 24/7 support contract) when I could dial-in and do it without
to much interruption to a good nights sleep.

-Thanks

I am not too familiar with RRAS terminology and hence I couldn't completely
understand the situation you are in. But this is the response I got for your
query from as RRAS guy. See if it's of any help to you and reply back if you
are not satisfied still.

He should be able to do that if the device is free (not being used) and RRAS
is configured on the machine.
To dial into the server, he can use the inbuilt RRAS. More info on
configuration, white papers, check out http://microsoft.com/vpn.
