Hi there, I have 2 easy questions for someone..I've clicked every button on
hand & can't find the answers..
New PC, XP [hard to figure out] How do you make Favorites go alphabetically
?? I tried Organize, but there's NOTHING there that will change the list..My
list is all over the place..
Also, In Outlook Express, when I open an email, delete it, it automatically
goes down & opens the next email.. I want it to go back to the email list..My
old program did this & I preferred it that way..I've gone thru every possible
click I could find, even rite clicks..
HELP !!!!!!!!
Thanks...

Internet Explorer Favorites?
While in Internet Explorer, go to the Favorites (from the menu at the top)
and left-click to open the pop-down list.. Go down and highlight ANY ONE
favorite in the list and right-click. Choose "Sort by name".

In Outlook Express? Not Outlook?
I am fairly sure that setting does not exist in Outlook Express.

Question #1: With a browser window open, click on Favorites in the menu bar
(not the Favorites toolbar button). Right click within the menu that
appears. "Sort by name" will be one of the right click menu options.

Question #2: I know Outlook has a setting for this but I don't think
Outlook Express has anything similar. Not seeing anything in Tools> Options
either. May want to post this question in one of the Outlook Express
newsgroups. Maybe someone there knows the answer or a workaround.

Gee, thanks, I've been hovering, waiting for a responce & it came so QUICK !!!
Favorites are DONE, [Microsoft sure doesn't explain things properly]
Re the email..I delete the one I've read, & want to go back to my email list
but it goes to the next email down, & it's open..I may have already read it,
I don't want to see it again right now..I want to pick & choose the next one
to read..But it's already chosen for me..In 98, it did just what I
wanted..There's gotta be a way..
Thanks again..

You pretty much have to use previews or delete the messages without opening
them fully first in Outlook Express. One of the disadvantages of using a
pretty much dead product to check your mail, methinks.

Sorry, but this is what came with my new Dell PC..On my old PC I had Office
2000..
Is there a free download somewhere ???

For.. An email application?
Sure - many. Depends on what you want to use.

Office 2000 was installed on your old computer?
Did it come with the installation media for it?
Still have the installation media?
You could remove it from the old computer and install it on your new
computer.

Otherwise - Microsoft Office is a product you must buy.

If you want free and decent, I would suggest Thunderbird:

Hi Patty,
For your Q2, in Outlook Express, go to View, Layout, and uncheck Show
Preview Pane. I think that will do what you are trying to accomplish.

Pretty sure that is what my pcmag.com link said to do as a work-around. The
problem Patty is having is that when you do this, in order to read the
email, you have to open it. When you open the email in Outlook Express and
then delete the opened email - it will open the next email in kind. There
is no setting to prevent this.

You want to stay away from the preview pane because of the possibility of
infection through some executable code in the emails.

Turning off the preview pane forces you to make a determination (if you do
not want the effect Patty is complaining about) of deletion or opening
first - before you see more than the from/date/subject lines. I think patty
would be much happier with Outlook or some other mail client where she may
be able to configure it as she desires.
