favorites folder

hello,

i keep deleting the Links folder in my Favorites folder in IE 6 but it keeps
showing up. I even tried to rename it but a new links folder keeps poping up

how do i prevent this from happening?

This is one way of getting rid of it, otherwise it is a permanent

Registry Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

i don't have \Toolbar Modify

i only have 3 folders explorer, webbrowser, shellbrowser

please let me know if you have any other ideas

It is a permanent feature as you see in this site so I would leave well
alone.

Once you're in this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

Look in the right-pane for the LinksFolderName value.

Simply place a "Hidden" attribute for the Links folder.

ok thanks i just wanted to play it safe

but now the favorites folder organizes itself alphabetical automatically,
how do i stop this?

You know you Can remove the Links folder from your IE toolbar without
deleting it. By the way it is VERY useful and underestimated folder. It
actually supports subfolders and will do popdowns when you put your cursor
on it while it's on the toolbar. A great way to organize your favorite
favorites!
