Help, please!!!

My favorites file is read-only. I've tried unchecking the radio button for
read-only and applying,(and it seems to accept that) but when I check it
again as soon as I close the preferences window, it is read-only again.

I am using my own machine, and haven't installed any new software.

Thanks!!

If you're referring to the Favorites folder (not a file).

For folders:
The Read-only and System attributes is only used by Windows Explorer to determine whether the folder is a special folder, such as a system folder that has its view customized by Windows (for example, My Documents, Favorites, Fonts, Downloaded Program Files), or a folder that you customized by using the Customize tab of the folder's Properties dialog box. As a result, Windows Explorer does not allow you to view or change the Read-only or System attributes of folders.

You Cannot View or Change the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders

I'm sorry, Ramesh, but I don't understand.

Yes, I'm referring to the folder, Favorites. THe reason I was trying to
change it from read-only is because I can't change any of my bookmarks, or
add any new ones.

I've read the link you've posted, but I don't understand that, either. :0(
Does that mean that I *can't* change my bookmarks? I have hundreds: I don't
want to have to make a new file and move them one by one. Is there something
that can fix it so I can add favorites? Or edit old ones?

I did read the workaround in that link, but I don't know enough to
understand it, I guess.

Thanks!
