Favorites and Filled-In User names GONE

actually my favorites have gone back to what seems like my favorites from
about a year ago. Ones that I have deleted recently are there, and new ones
from the past year are GONE. I know where the folder is that has my current
list, but it isn't the one on the menu bar in IE. Also, when I go to a site
that previously remembered my user ID, it no longer does.

I had an occasion when some of my favourites were being diverted to a
rogue folder and were not showing in 'Favourites'.

I located the rogue folder by creating a 'Test' folder in 'Favourites',
which was easily identifiable. I then went to Find Files or Folders,
searched for the 'Test' folder and found that it was located (r.c.
'Test' > Properties) in the rogue folder, together with my other missing
favourites.

It was then a fairly simple matter of dragging the missing favourites to
the correct folder and deleting the rogue folder.
